The Katsina State Government has Inaugurated a high- powered committee towards the implementation of the new #70,000.00 minimum wage for the State Civil Servants.
The Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who represented Governor Dikko Radda Phd, CON Inaugurated the Implementation Committee on Friday 25th October, 2024, at the Government House, Katsina State.
The High – Powered Implementation Committee Chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Faskari has three weeks as deadline to submit its comprehensive report on the wage implementation strategy. The Committee’s mandate encompasses all categories of workers across the state civil service, local governments and local education authorities.
“This administration recognised the economic challenges faced by the civil servants in the wake of the fuel subsidy removal,” Deputy Governor, Jobe stated this during the Inauguration Ceremony of the Committee.” The formation of the committee demonstrates our commitment to addressing these challenges through a well – structured minimum wage implementation plan with appropriate consequential adjustments
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed disclosed that the implementation committee consist of key stakeholders from various sectors of government and labour, including the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Faku Bawale, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Finance, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the State Accountant – General, Chairman of the Revenue Board and both the State and Local Government Auditors – General. Labour is represented by the Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) and the Trade Union Congress ( TUC) While the Local Government are represented by the State ALGON Chairman.
The Committee’s Chairman, Barrister Faskari in his response pledged to delivered a workable framework within the stipulated timeframe. “We understand the urgency of this assignment and its importance to the welfare of the Civil Servants.
The Committee, he said will work diligently to develop a comprehensive implementation modalities which serves the best interests of both the workers and the state.
