*Attendees urges to reject negative behaviours that will tanish the image of the association
The Naval Officers’ Wives Association ( NOWA) has celebrated its 59th anniversary with series of impactful activities.
The 3 – day event organised by NOWA Central Naval Command had seminar and outreach programmes for widows and orphans in Warri area of Delta State.
The seminar attended by NOWA members and members from the Naval Rating Wives Association (NARAWA), focused on three key topics: “Unity in Diversity, Unity and Order in the Family and Mental Stability in the Midst of Working Together.”
Acting NOWA CNC Coordinator, Mrs Adeola Soyemi emphasized the importance of unity, equality and urged the attendees to reject negative behaviours that can undermine the nexus within the association.
Speaking on her lecture titled, “Unity in Diversity and Order in the Family, Mrs Adeola Soyemi reiterated the importance of fostering a mindset of unity that promotes equality.
She also encouraged the women to cultivate a practice of regular prayers for their husbands and explore creative methods to maintain family unity filled with love and tranquility.
Guest Speaker Mrs Zoe Oguleye, who spoke on the topic “Mental Stability in the Midst of Working Together,” underscored the fact that mental well – being, starts within individuals.
On the sidelines, Mrs Vera Lekan, Spouse of NNS SOROH, advised women to respect their husbands privacy, that this could minimise unnecessary mental stress.
Not undermining the importance of religion, NOWA CNC held a prayer sessions at the Mosque which dovetailed into Inter – denominational thanksgiving service at Navy Protestant Church, Effurum Barracks, Warri.
Additionally NOWA distributed food items and cash gifts to over 100 widows and orphans to mark its 59th anniversary, demonstrating its commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community.
It would be recalled that NOWA CNC had distributed palliatives to widows, aged women and children of the Okutukutu Community of Bayelsa State.
