The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) in Oyo State has declared the Incumbent Oyo State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde the winner of the Governorship Election held yesterday across the State. Governor Seyi Makinde of the People Democratic Party polled a total votes of 563, 756 to defeat his closest rival the Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator Teslim Folarin who scored 256, 685 who came a distant second. With this result Governor Seyi Makinde becomes the second Governor in the history of Oyo State to be re- elected for a second term in office after late Senator Abiola Ajimobi in 2011 became the first Governor to achieved that feat. It may be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde was among the G – 5 PDP Governors of PDP that opposed the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the Party Presidential Candidate and worked against his aspiration at the Presidential polls which the Candidate of All Progressive Congress Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged the winner as the President – elect. An elated Governor Seyi Makinde dedicate the victory to God and the people of Oyo State.
