Buhari Launches Project Monitoring app, EYE MARK

President Muhammad Buhari has launched the National Monitoring and Evaluation Platform, EYE MARK. Buhari also launched the project monitoring website ( www. eyemark.ng) with its accompanying mobile app shortly before the weekly Federal Executive Council – FEC meeting at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President noted that the federal government could no longer depend on it’s handful of Monitoring and Evaluation teams to oversees vast number of infrastructure projects spread across the Country. He said that given his administration has invested in infrastructure more than any before his government, it is therefore fitting to create adequate avenues for close monitoring by citizens. He said this will close the existing gaps and promote citizens participation in governance. Buhari also blamed the spate of corruption on the poor implementation of infrastructure across the Country. With EYE MARK, the president said The Status of Projects, total amount appropriated and spent so far are now available in the public space. He urged Ministries, Departments, and agencies to cooperate with the coordinating ministry, Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning to the required information to be capture on the platform. President Buhari said the innovation would help to forestall the practice of abandoning projects as all the Stakeholders, Communities, Civil Society Organisations ( CSOs) Contractors, Ministries Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) and Citizens would continually be in one platform.
