The National Broadcasting Commission has reviewed its 24 hours shut down notice to African Independent Television, Silverbird Television and 50 other stations, extending the pay-up order window to Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
The review was contained in a statement on Saturday by the Commission’s Director-General, Mr Balarabe Ilel The statement which read in part emphasised that this is to inform all affected stations whose licences were revoked are given 24 hours to pay all outstanding license fees to NBC and that all affected stations that fail to defray their debts on or before August 23, 2022, are directed to shut down by 12 am on August 24, 2022.
The NBC D.G last Friday announced the revocation of the licences of 52 media stations over a 2.6 billion naira debt ordering the affected stations to halt operations within 24 hours.
