The Sultan of Sokoto and President – General of Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs His Eminence, Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared Wednesday, April 10th, 2024 as the Eid – El – Fitri day celebration.
The Sultan declaration followed the report of the National Moon Sighting Committees which confirmed that the moon was not sighted and that the Ramadan fasting will continue till Tuesday, 9th April, 2024.
A statement signed by the Chairman Advisory Committee in the Religious Affairs of the Sultanate Council, Professor Sambo Junaidu said the Council accepted the report and subsequently declares Wednesday, 10th of April, 2024 as first day of Shawwal 1445 A H.
Saad Abubakar urged all Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for the peace, progress and development of Nigeria and also wishes Muslims happy Eid – El – Fitri.
Saudi – Arabia had earlier declared that the Crescent of Shawwal has not been sighted and that the Ramadan fasting continues on Tuesday and that Wednesday will be Eid – El – Fitri day celebration.
Also in Doha, Quatar the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in a Television broadcast also announced that today Tuesday April 9th, 2024 will be the last day of the holy month of Ramadan and added that Wednesday, April 10, 2024 is the first day of Shawwal and the celebration of Eid – El – Fitri in Quatar.
