Edo Queens of Nigeria will this evening tackle Defending Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns in the last group stage match of group b for a semi final place of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League at the Stade Laibi Zaouli in Morocco.
Currently Edo Queens is at the top of group b’s table with 4 points having won a match and draw one from 2 matches, while defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies is in third position with three points having won a match and lost one. FC Masar of Egypt is second on the table also with four points same with Edo Queens.
Edo Queens will go through to the Semi – final if they win or draw their last group b match against the defending champions.
In other match, FC Masar of Egypt who are second in the group also with four points will play against bottom placed Central Bank of Ethiopia. A win for Masar will also see them in the semi final.
At the end of today’s match if Edo Queens qualify for the semi final they will be the second Nigeria Club after Bayelsa Queens in 2022 to reach the knockout round of the competition.
Edo Queens are also the first Nigeria Club in this current edition to avoid defeat and yet to concede a goal in their opening two games. No Nigerian Club has ever gone through an entire group stage without conceding a goal
AS FAR Rabat of Morocco, TP Mazembe of DR Congo are into CAF Women’s Champions League Semi – Finals from Group A.
