Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda has flagged – off the comprehensive rehabilitation of the 39 Kilometres Shargelle – Dutsi – Ingawa road, a strategic project valued at 13.8 Billion Naira.
Addressing stakeholders at the flagging – off ceremony, Governor Radda emphasised the importance of the road, which he said has remained neglected since it was last rehabilitated in 2004 during the administration of late Mallam Umoru Musa Yar’ adua.
The Governor in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed his Chief Press Secretary, said the project represents a significant milestone in the administration’s “Building Your Future Agenda”; aimed at transforming the State’s infrastructure landscape and stimulating economic growth.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by residents and travellers along this important route and how the poor condition of the road has historically impeded transportation, trade and agricultural activities in the region.
Governor Radda called for collective responsibility from the community leaders, traditional rulers, and citizens to support the execution of the project by ensuring transparency, good quality and high standards work are carried out by the contractor.
He stressed that the rehabilitation work on the road is more than a construction project. It is a commitment to the welfare and future of the people of Katsina State.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Housing, and Transportation, Engr. Sani Magaji Ingawa observed that the road is an important connector that link various communities and facilitate economic activities in Katsina and beyond.
While commending Governor Radda’s visionary leadership qualities and his commitment towards the development of the state, Engr. Ingawa stressed that the road is not only essential in improving transportation and accessibility, but will also foster economic growth and enhance trading and social integration.
The flagging – off ceremony was witnessed by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Nasir Yahaya Daura, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Jabiru Tsauri and other members of the State executive council.
