Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu in commemorating the year 2023 Isese Day has declared Monday 21 August as a work free day for all Public Servants in the State. Isese Day has been set aside in Lagos to celebrate the indigenous Yoruba culture and tradition as well as preservation of Yoruba heritage. It is marked annually and celebrate by adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion. According to a Circular issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Muri – Okunola, this year’s Isese Day celebration will hold on Sunday, 20th August, 2023. The Head of Service in the circular stated further that the declaration of Work Free Day by Governor Sanwo – Olu is reaffirmation of his commitment to continue to provide necessary support to traditional institutions in the State, with a view to promoting our indigenous culture and tradition while preserving our heritage. The Circular asked all the Workers in the State to report at their duty post on Tuesday 22nd August at eight in the morning. Lagos state joins Oyo and Ogun States in the South – West that have recently set aside 20 August to mark the festival.
