The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has organised Y2023 First Bi – Annual Staff Engagement for Firemen to set the year’s agenda in order to reduce fire outbreaks in the State and further enhanced service delivery. This was made known by the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Adeseye Margaret while briefing Newsmen at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja on the activities of her agency to ensure the reduction of fire outbreaks in the metropolis. Mrs. Adeseye who spoke on the THEME: “INTEGRATING THE WORKFORCE FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY”. Reiterated that the essence of the meeting was to strategize through networking, sharing of ideas among firefighters for the purpose of using Fire Preventing tactics to Fight Fire Outbreaks in the State. In a statement by the Assistant Director Public Affairs, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mr. Jamiu Dosunmu said the Fire boss stated that Fire Incidences increased indiscriminately from November through December 2022, and investigations revealed carelessness and negligence as the major cause of unfavourable calls which includes a Large number of false call that keep occurring due to the change of strategy in the attendance of all emergency calls without double – checking for false calls. Other factors include fuel scarcity and harmattan haze which also trigger the Increase of Fire Outbreaks. She therefore urged Lagosians to desist from the habits that may put unnecessary pressure on the Fire Service Operations in the State while assuring the public that the Fire agency has what it takes to ensure reduction of fire outbreaks. “The State government under the leadership of Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu has handed over 62 Fire apparatuses, renovated and reconstructed existing Fire Stations; Constructed four new Fire Stations, while three additional Fire Stations is ongoing at Oworonshoki, Ijede and Ijegun Egba to further boost the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery in around the State. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter- Governmental Relations, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, who was at the event along with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sesan Tunde Ogundeko mni among others Confirmed that the officers dedicated themselves to the Service of humanity, pointing out that the percentage representation of the officers in the hall showed that they prepared for the Year 2023. According to him, “the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo – Olu passionate about the State Fire Service, hence its rebranding to reposition it for effective and excellent performance. He Commended the Fire Fighters for their doggedness and for translating the governor’s effort into quality service and positive results. At the programme, the firemen enjoyed series of Presentations from three different Facilitators, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Sesan Tunde Ogundeko, mni who delivered his Lecture on the topics Public Perception of Public Service, while Engineer, Jamiu Badmus, spoke on SOPS and Importance of Social Media, in turn addressed mindset as the Determinant of success.
