Causes Of The Crisis:
First and foremost I want to appreciate the Ondo state Governor; Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, for his readiness, urgent decision making and quick response to always tackle these unforseen negative occurrence through declaration of curfew and deployment of Security Agencies which is one out of the solutions but not the best solution.
Before the finding of a permanent solution to a particular problem one must first know the origin and the causes of the problem in question.
It is obvious and glaring that the leadership tussle between the Olu’kare paramount ruler of Ikare and the Owa’Ale of Ikare who has just been recently promoted by Governor Akeredolu as first class Oba is the main cause of the crisis in the community. Each of them has historical evidence to back his existence and his leadership position.
(1) REPRISAL OF ATTACKS/ REVENGE:
During each of this crisis which repeats itself simultaneously under the leadership of government of the day, imagine in a situation where someone who has killed, maimed someone family members and destroyed properties worth of millions of naira is walking freely and proudly without any judicious punishment or compensation to the family of the victims, the victim family would surely use any available opportunity to revenge for their love ones and the properties which has been destroyed.
(2) ILLITERACY;
Ikare community and the whole Akoko in general had really suffered from local migration to the urban.This actual phenomenon has really contributed its quota to the Ikare communal crisis because 75% to 95% of the home based Ikare youths fall under the canopy of illiteracy and I state categorically that we are proud of them because majority of them are millionaires, multi millionaires under the following endeavors: driving,NURTW,okada riding, various associations,trading, gambling, politics and thuggery.
THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE CRISIS:
The negative effects of Ikare Akoko communal crisis and the economy backstabbing on Ikare Akoko, Arigidi Akoko, Erusu Akoko,Ibaram Akoko,Iyani Akoko, Ikaram Akoko, Ase Akoko, Gedegede Akoko,Ajowa Akoko, Ikase /Eriti Akoko, Okeagbe Akoko, Oyin Akoko, Afin Akoko,Iye Akoko,Ogbagi Akoko, Ese Akoko,Irun Akoko, Akungba Akoko,Supare Akoko,Oka Akoko,Isua Akoko,Ugbe Akoko, Iboropa Akoko, Epinmi Akoko,Ise Akoko, Auga Akoko, Akunu Akoko, Ikakumo Akoko, Ifira Akoko, Ipe Akoko,Ipesi Akoko, Afo Akoko, Ikun Akoko,Eti Oro,Oba Akoko.
It has become a general phenomenon that the Ikare communal crisis which could be easily traced back to about two and half decades has reintroduced itself to become the matter of the day in the last two years plus, which has really degraded economy activities in the whole Akoko land and lost of lives and properties worth of hundred millions of naira had become the light of the day.
Ikare is the major business hubs for all Akoko communities mentioned above, including Ado Ekiti,Ilumoba Ekiti,Omuo Ekiti,Iro Ekiti, Akoko Edo in Edo state,Ibilo in Edo state,Okene in kogi state,Kabba and Ayere in Kogi state. today
Therefore, I wish to call the attention of the Edo state Governor, Kogi state Governor and Ekiti state Governor to advise, support, collaborate, plead and persuade Ondo State governor in person of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to quickly do the needful as to curb this menace and adopt this letter as a template for peace and co-existence in Ikare community which will serve as economy bail out to the afforementioned states, the Akoko land and Ondo state in general.
