The final draw for the 2022 World Cup group stage in Qatar was made known yesterday at a colourful ceremony at the magnificent exhibition and convention center in Doha with lots of mouth-watering matches. Playing in GROUP A Will be the host Country and current Asian Champions, Qatar, Ecuador, reigning African Champions and 2010 quarter – Finalist Senegal and three-time World Cup Finalist Netherlands.
Defending Champions, France begins defence of the title they won four years ago in GROUP D against Intercontinental Play-Offs 1 winner, 1992 European Champions, Denmark and the first African team to qualify for the second round in 1978 Tunisia.
GROUP B will features 1966 World Cup winners England, Iran, 1994 host, USA and European Play-Off winner. IN GROUP C will be two-time winners Argentina, Saudi – Arabia, and Poland GROUP E Consist of 2010 Winners Spain, winner of Intercontinental Play-Off 2, four-time winners Germany and 2002 Co-Host Japan.
2018 third-placed team, Belgium will take on Canada, Morocco and 2018 World Finalist Croatia Five-time World Champions, Brazil will battle Serbia, three time quarter – finalist Switzerland and Cameroon in GROUP G Former European Champions, Portugal in GROUP H will confront 2010 Quarter-Finalist Ghana, inaugural World Cup host and winners, Uruguay and the Korea Republic.
The draw was conducted by CAFU ( BRAZIL ) JJ Okocha ( NIGERIA ) Lothar Matthaeus ( GERMANY ) Rabah Madjer (ALGERIA) Bora Militonuvic ( Serbia/Mexico ) Abdel Ahmed MalAllah ( QATAR ) and Tim Cahill ( AUSTRALIA).
The ceremony was also used in paying tribute to those OUTSTANDING PLAYERS who died and contributes to the development of the games. The late players are Diego Armando Maradona, Gordon Banks, Paulo Rossi and Gerd Muller who have all passed away.
