After two hours of energy sapping encounter, Czech Barbora Krejcikova ranked number 31 in world defeated seven seed Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the final of the Women’s Singles as she survived a remarkable come back from the Italian to claimed her first Wimbledon title and her Second Grand Slams in three years having won the French Open in 2021.
Krejcikova at the Centre Court defeated Paolini in straight sets of 6 – 2, 2 – 6 and 6 – 4 and lifted the Venus Rosewater Dish and went home with a prize money of £ 2.7 million.
She now added the Venus Rosewater Dish to the French Open title won in 2021 to her trophies cabinet.
Barbora Krejcikova with her feat became the eight women to win the All England Club titles in eight years.
28 Years old Krejcikova’s win came 26 years after Jana Novotna won her only Grand Slam, took teenage Krejcikova under her wing but Novotna died of cancer in 2017 at age of 49.
