Spain Women National Team has qualified for their first ever World Cup Final after they stunned Sweden two goals to one in a dramatic first semi – final encounter at Eden Park Auckland, New Zealand. Salma Parallvelo put the Spaniard ahead in eightieth minute as the match progressed Rabacka Blomquist scored the equaliser for Sweden in the eighty – eightieth minute. With extra – time looming Spain Captain, Olga Carmona strucked a last minute winner crashing in off the bar to ensured that la Roja made history in front of over 43 thousand spectators at the Eden Park. It was all over for Sweden as the referee blew the final whistle to signalled the end of the match. In the history of the 32 years old Competition this will be the fourth time that Sweden Women National Team will be eliminated at the semi – final stage. They lost in 1991, 2011, 2019 and now 2023. In the second semi – final that would be played later today Co- Hosts Australia will battle Current European Champions, Lioness of England to decide who would confront Spain in the Finals. The Third Placed match also known as losers finals will be played on Saturday 19th August, 2023. The Grand – Finale comes up on Sunday 20th August, 2023. Who ever wins the Cup on Sunday Will be a first time winner with a record prize sum. This year’s Women’s World Cup prize money was increased from 30 million dollars in 2019 to 110 million dollars but is far less than the 440 million dollars awarded to winners of the men’s World Cup last year.
