This Year’s French Open Finalist, Italy’s Jasmine Paolini will this afternoon ( 2 PM UK TIME) takes on 2021 Women’s French Open Champion, Barbora Krejcikova of Czech in the Wimbledon Women’s Singles Final to decides who takes home the Venus Rosewater Dish in their maiden final.
Paolini and Krejcikova will be playing in their maiden final at the Centre Court of the All England Club
In this afternoon final, Italy’s Jasmine Paolini will be playing back to back of a two Major Grand Slam Final in the same calendar year, having reached the 2024 French Open Final where she lost to Iga Swiatek in straight sets on June 8 2024 in which Swiatek won her third consecutive title and now in the Wimbledon Women’s Singles Final.
With this feat Jasmine Paolini becomes the fifth player in history since 1999 and the first since Serena Williams (2016) to reach the Singles Finals at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
Paolini also becomes the first Italian Female Player in Open Era to reach the Wimbledon Final.
In her semi – final match, Jasmine Paolini defeated Dona Vekic in straight sets of 2 – 6, 6 – 4, 7 – 6 (10 – 8), while Barbora Krejcikova came from behind and stunned the 2022 Wimbledon Champion, Elena Rybakina in three sets, 3 – 6, 6 – 3 and 6 – 4.
A new Wimbledon Women’s Singles Champion will be crowned at the end of this afternoon final match.
