Defending Champions, France for the second time in four years will be playing in the final of the World Cup after the cup holders defeated giant killer, Atlas lions of Morocco by two goals to nothing in the second semi – final match played last night at Al – Bayt Stadium, Al – Khor City, Doha in Qatar. Goals from Theo Hernandez and substitute Randal Kolo Muani ended Africa and Morocco dreams of featuring in their first ever World Cup Finals and set up a showdown with Argentina on Sunday. Morocco after they pipped Portugal in the quarter – finals becomes the first African team to ever reached the semi – final stage. The Sunday’s showdown will be France’s fourth World Cup appearance in the finals in seven years, hoping to become the first men’s team to play in World Cup Finals back to back since Brazil first achieved the feat in 1958 and 1962. Argentina will also be featuring in their sixth World Cup Finals In many years. Argentina are winners in 1978 and 1986 while France won it in 1998 and 2018. France from this feat are now the fifth defending champions to play in the final, joining Italy in 1938, Brazil in 1962, Argentina in 1990 and Brazil in 1998.
